Neither is universally better. Your best fit depends on how much structure, coaching and community you want.
Coaching and programming
In CrossFit, the workout is programmed and a coach teaches the movements. In a regular gym, you usually create or purchase your own plan unless personal training is included. People who feel lost around equipment often benefit from greater structure.

Schedule and flexibility
Traditional gyms often allow broad access hours. CrossFit classes happen at set times, though gyms like ours also provide open-gym access. If you train independently, open gym should still have a clear plan and safe equipment practices.
Community and accountability
Group classes create repeated contact with coaches and members, which makes attendance easier for people motivated by social accountability. Traditional gyms can develop community too, but it is less built into the default experience.
Cost
CrossFit memberships often cost more than basic gym access because they include programming and coaching. Compare the full service — not only building access.

A useful middle ground
Results come from appropriate training performed consistently, supported by recovery and nutrition. The logo on the door cannot replace adherence.
Some people combine coached classes with open gym: classes build general fitness and technique; independent sessions target specific skills. Beginners should establish sound movement before adding unsupervised volume.
